She was the eldest of 11, Nanna the eldest of 12: Catholic families! Mum had five kids, cooked on a wood stove, was a dress maker, scone baker, Vinnie’s volunteer & mad Port fan.
Gwen loved her community and her family & Matt still misses her.
This is a son’s tribute to a remarkable woman who made the most of the 83 years God gave her.
She grew up on the West Coast of South Australia, moved to Adelaide to help the family, found a new life and love.
For 50 years Gwen and husband Kevin built a happy haven at 39 Thirteenth, Street Gawler for anyone looking for a friendly chat, a laugh, a meal or a cup of tea.
